About Future Allies

Our story, values, and approach to wealth stewardship

Our Story

Future Allies emerged from conversations among wealth holders who were seeking to move their resources in alignment with their values but felt isolated in traditional philanthropic spaces. We recognized the need for a community that centered justice, accountability, and systemic change rather than charity and tax optimization. What began as informal gatherings has evolved into a robust network of stewards, advisors, and movement allies. We've built a community where people can be vulnerable about the complexities of wealth, learn from each other's experiences, and take bold action toward collective liberation. Today, Future Allies serves as a bridge—connecting wealth stewards with movement organizations, trusted advisors with aligned values, and individuals with a community committed to transforming the role of wealth in society.

Our Values & Principles

Wealth is a collective resource. We reject the notion that wealth is purely individual. We recognize the social, historical, and systemic forces that create wealth, and we commit to using it for collective benefit. Accountability to movements. We seek to be accountable to those most impacted by systemic oppression, centering their leadership and following their direction in our work. Transformation, not transaction. We're not interested in charity that maintains the status quo. We support systemic change that addresses root causes of injustice. Relationship-centered approach. We believe that sustainable change happens through deep, trust-based relationships built over time with intentionality and care. Continuous learning. We approach this work with humility, recognizing that we're always learning and that mistakes are part of the journey toward justice.

Our Community

Future Allies brings together a diverse group of individuals united by shared values: Wealth Stewards are individuals navigating inherited or earned wealth who are committed to aligning their resources with justice. They range from young people just beginning their journey to seasoned philanthropists reimagining their practice. Advisors & Practitioners include lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, and philanthropic consultants who bring technical expertise grounded in values alignment. They help stewards navigate the practical challenges of moving resources. Movement Allies are organizers, nonprofit leaders, and community builders who help ground our work in the realities of grassroots movements and ensure accountability to those most impacted by injustice.

Our Approach to Stewardship

We support wealth stewards through a combination of community gatherings, one-on-one guidance, and connections to trusted resources. Our approach is holistic, recognizing that aligned resource deployment involves not just financial strategy but also emotional, relational, and spiritual work. We create spaces for honest conversation about the complexities of wealth—the privilege it confers, the isolation it can create, and the responsibility it demands. We facilitate peer learning where stewards can share strategies, challenges, and insights. We connect stewards with legal, financial, and philanthropic advisors who understand that the goal is not wealth preservation but wealth deployment for justice. And we help build relationships between wealth holders and movement organizations grounded in trust, accountability, and shared vision.

Our Values

Collective Liberation We believe our freedom is bound together. We work toward a world where everyone can thrive, not just those with wealth. Right Relationship We're learning to be in right relationship with money, land, power, and each other—acknowledging harm, making repair, and building new ways forward. Experimentation & Learning We embrace uncertainty and imperfection. We're willing to try new approaches, make mistakes, and learn together. Community Accountability We hold ourselves and each other accountable—not through shame, but through care, honest feedback, and commitment to growth. Movement Alignment We take direction from grassroots organizers and movements led by those most impacted by systemic oppression.

How We Work

Future Allies operates as a decentralized, member-led community. We don't have a traditional board or hierarchy. Instead, we organize in working groups, circles, and pods—creating multiple entry points for participation and leadership. Our work is funded through membership contributions on a sliding scale, with no one turned away for lack of funds. We believe in making this work accessible while also practicing sustainability and fair compensation for organizers and facilitators. We gather regularly—both virtually and in person—for learning, connection, and collective strategizing. Our gatherings range from intimate circles to larger convenings, always centering relationship-building and practical skill-sharing.
